Makeup Mondays: ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette

Happy Monday loves! I hope you are all doing great and handing this crazy heat in Los Angeles!

I wanted to start a new Monday Series called Makeup Mondays, where I review makeup palettes, skincare and hair care!

This week, I’ll be going over ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette and I’m in love with Colour Pop at the moment. So many beautiful eye shadow palettes!

1st Row

Catch Me: a matte beige great for a base all over color

Side2Side: a Super Shock finish great for a sparkly top of an eye look. Super Shocks can be hard to work with sometimes. I would recommend put a little pressure in your finger and swipe the shadow on your eyes.

Garden Date: a metallic medium coral.

Work It: a matte bright orange.

2nd Row:

Prima Drama: a pressed gold glitter. I would recommend this to be applied away from your ducts! so preferably on the middle of the lid.

Meadow: a matte medium dark orange. I’ve been using this shade pretty much most of the time when I use this palette.

Early Morning: an orange gold pressed glitter.

Dream Maker: a matte dusty pink.

3rd Row: the more darker shades

ICYMI: a matte deep coppery-orange

Melody: a metallic light medium coral with gold shimmer specks.

West Side: a matte medium brown.

Feel Free: a matte medium dark red brown.

I feel like these 2 last shades would work great as a crease or outer V color.

I would give this palette a 10/10 to be honest! The shades are all diverse and work great together. The only con for me would be the glitters as there is quite a bit of fallout, but what glitters don’t?!

You can find Colour Pop on their website, or even at Ulta (with select products)

What did you think?! Would you try out ColourPop Pressed Powder Palettes?

Happy first day of summer loves!!

I don’t know how the weather is over where you guys are but, it’s only 11am here in LA and already the sun is blaring down at us!

To kick off the summer spirit, I’ve got 2 honorable mentions of my beauty purchases that I’ve been loving lately!

I’ve been on the hunt for L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara and had the hardest time finding it. I went to Target and found out they sold out within the second day! Then went to Ulta and it still wasn’t delivered to them so last idea I had was to order it online. I did find it online on Amazon but it shouldn’t ship until another 2 weeks!

I plan to try it out for a few weeks and will post a review on my blog, so I won’t talk more about this till then!

As I was at Ulta looking for my mascara, I came across the Biore Pore Penetrating Charcoal Bar. I feel like this is a great dupe for the Lush Coalface for half the price. It’s even got a peppermint scent to it. So it feels great after a long day while your face is feeling refreshed.

Mario Badescu Review

Hi Loves!

I hope you all are having a great week. 🙂

A few weeks ago I got an email that includes all the freebies of that week and it had the Mario Badescu skincare sample. You basically sign up and they ask questions about your skin type and after you answer the questions, they handpick your skincare routine. Then after a few days you will get an email talking about the products more in detail and they offer you free samples of your regimen. It takes a few days to weeks for the samples to arrive. It came with a personalized instruction guide as well as a product guide discussing all of the products available and how to apply them.

There are four types of skin types: (once you take the questionnaire, they will tell you what type you are)

1. Combination- (C)

2. Oily- (O)

3. Dry- (D)

4. Sensitive (S)

What I got, a description and my review:

*Aloe Lotion: An aloe and 2% alcohol toner/astringent that cools the skin. I personally like it. When I put it on after cleansing my face, it feels refreshing. It has a light fresh scent.  (Great for Combination, Dry and Sensitive Skin)

aloe

*Flower and Tonic Mask: It’s a combination of purifying and calming mask for congested, bumpy or slightly oily skin. Balsam Peru calms minor redness and irritation and Kaolin absorbs the dirt and oil from the pores. I honestly didn’t see any difference with this mask except for my nose since I do get blackheads a lot. I would only use it for my t-zone. (Great for Combination, Oily and Sensitive skin)

flower tonic mask

*Glycolic Eye Cream: High in antioxidant Vitamin E and blend of oils for a soft youthful looking eye area. I personally like this especially using it every morning and night. It’s light and fresh, not too greasy. (Great for ALL skin types)

glycolic eye cream

*Drying Cream: very effective treatment to dry up small under-surface blemishes that look like raised bumps. The aloe rich cream conceals and heals erupted pimples. This is probably the best thing I have tried for those pesky hormonal acne or blemishes. It does indeed dry up the pimple and makes it look less irritated. (Great for ALL skin types)

drying cream

*Hyaluronic Moisturizer (SPF 15): Daily moisture and moderate sun protection. Hyaluronic acid locks in skin’s natural moisture and antioxidant Vitamin A based Peanut Oil nourishes skin. Absorbent and non-greasy. I like this moisturizer. It’s simple but does as it says. I did add my own SPF though just to be safe. (Great for Combination, Dry and Sensitive kin)

hyalonic moisturizer spf 15

*Orange Cleansing Soap: Orange extract makes this gentle, cream cleanser mildly exfoliating. Non-oily, non-detergent formula is safe. I wish I could have liked it but it was too simple. It didn’t feel like it cleansed my face at all. (Great for ALL skin types)

orange cleansing soap

* Strawberry Face Scrub: Made with real strawberry seeds that gently buff away flaky skin while natural AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) breakdown dull build up. It improves the overall texture. Again, I wish I would have liked this one. It didn’t feel like it worked on me. There was no difference after I used it.

I would definitely buy the Aloe Lotion and the Drying Cream. You can buy Mario Badescu products at Ulta, Nordstrom and at http://www.mariobadescu.com/Skin-Care

What I also liked about this sample kit is that it included a very personalize product application guide and also had pictures of how to apply the products on your face. In the product guide as well also has a glossary for the words that aren’t familiar.

What do you guys think? Would you fill a questionnaire to test out a skincare regimen?

Deals and Freebies February 9-15, 2014

Hi Loves,

I hope everyone has a great Valentines/Single Awareness Day.

This past week was a crazy one that had so many sales going on at a lot of drugstores.

PicMonkey Collage drugstore beauty-001

Walgreens:

Walgreens has a beauty sale going on from now until March 1, 2014 called the Winter Beauty Event where you once scan a coupon and every time you buy cosmetics, skin care, hair care, grooming, bath and body and oral care you get 50 points per $1 as long as you’re a Balance Reward member. Here’s a link to the coupon in case anyone wants to use it! http://www.walgreens.com/topic/promotion/winter-beauty-event-coupon.jsp

*I bought the Ban Total Refresh Cooling Body Clothes for $3.99 and got 250 points for buying it. That’s not including the Winter Beauty Event points. I ended up getting 400 points on that one.

*I bought Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer in 041 Dust of Bronze for $4.99. I used a coupon that was $1 off and got 150 Reward points. I believe they changed their design of the polishes.

walgreens buy-001Ulta:

What I love about Ulta is that you can use both coupons from Ulta as well as manufacture coupons. I had a $3.50 off a $10 purchase. So I bought a much needed blush brush from Real Techniques that was $8.99. I then got a Chocolate Mud mask for $1.99 and an Iced Gingerbread Shower Gel that was on clearance for only $0.99. In total I only paid $9.50 so it’s as if I only paid for the brush! Another great thing about using the Ulta coupons is that when you look at the receipt, they don’t take just $3 off one product but they take it from all the products you bought!

Rite Aid:

*There’s a sale for the any Venus razor would be $9 and you would get $2 back in Up+ Rewards. I had a coupon that was $4 off which can be found in last week’s P&G coupons insert from the Los Angeles Times. I also had $4 in Up+ Rewards earlier so in total I only paid $1.99 plus tax!

venus olay razor-001CVS:

A new toothpaste came out and it sounded like a good deal. Crest Be Adventurous Chocolate Mint toothpaste! It was on sale for $4.99 while there was a coupon in the P&G coupon insert last week that was $1 off which is not bad at all. I added that with a $3 ExtraCare Reward while getting back $3 again. So I only paid 1.99 plus tax. 😀

*The week before there was a sale on Maybelline: Spend $9 on any Maybelline purchase and get $3 back in ExtraCare Rewards. I got the Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Eggplant. I wanted a new color for my eyeliner so I figured why not!

Kmart:

Last but not least, I was browsing at Kmart in the cosmetics section where I noticed there was a few Revlon cosmetics that were up to 75% off. I was lucky to find this blush in the shade of Wine with Everything 060. I like this shade because it evens out any overdone blush. Original price was about $9 but I only paid $2.99!

Weekend Splurges

Merry Christmas Eve loves!

I hope everyone has a great Christmas Eve and enjoy it to the fullest!

I know I’m glad I finished finals and did great in my classes so this weekend I splurged a bit more on my makeup junkie-ness more than I planned. This whole month has a been a bit too much on the makeup purchases but who could resist right?!

PicMonkey Collage weekend haul-001

This weekend, I made a stop at Ulta, and CVS. I feel like I go to CVS every few days to see if more clearance products come out. To my surprise, the beauty clearance sale also covers hair care!

I got the Salon Grafix Healthy Hair Nutrition Conditioning Cleanser in Citrus Creme. This was originally $8 but I got it for $2.50! I really advise you guys to look around the beauty, hair care, and bath and body area of the store. You have no idea how many goodies you can find.

I saw this new Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette and took forever to chose what shade I wanted! So many possibilities! I opted to get the shade “Floral Values 393A”. It’s very feminine and soft. It comes with a base color, the browbone, the definer, the eyelid and the crease. I have a feeling that they might start discontinuing the original trio eyeshadow palettes but I could be wrong. I only paid $3.99 for these suckers!

The last thing I got from CVS this week (and hopefully the last!) is the Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Bronzer in Medium Skin. This is my first time actually buying a bronzer so I’m excited on trying this out! It’s original price was 14.99 but it was on 75% so I only paid about $3.15!

I later went to Ulta and I had one of those coupons that were Buy more than $10 and get $5 off, so I went off to the hunt! :p I got one of the most talked about product on the web which was the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in “Milk”. I use this mostly when I want my shadows to pop.

nyx milk-001

This winter has been pretty harsh here in California and I don’t think people notice how bad the cold weather effects their skin! Especially their lips! I heard that the Sally Hansen Peptide Lip Smoother was on clearance but alas, I could not find it. Although I did find it at Ulta! I’m excited to try this especially at night when it’s the coldest.

lip smoother-001

As I was already paying at the cashier’s, I still did’t have enough to get the discount so I grabbed the closest and cheapest thing. haha I did get the Ulta Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel Sanitizer in “Holiday Cheer”.

So at the end, I only paid $6.59 which is not bad at all!!

Have you guys found any new products that you tried and loved? Let me know! 🙂

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!! and Happy Birthday to My Baby Sis!

Random Dupe

Happy Easter to all my Orthodox Friends! I was at CVS pharmacy and looking at the New York Color nail polishes. I was pretty interested in the new spring colors. I picked up the color in “Lexington Lilac 147”. It’s a light pinkish purple color.

Little did I know, I had a similar color from Ulta called “Tutu Cute” and it’s almost the same color. 🙂 this one is more of a darker version of pink and purple.

Its a good thing, that they’re both similar in color. Especially if you’re tight on money, the NYC color is only 0.99 while Ulta’s brand is $6.

Here you can see the difference of the colors. Not too much though thankfully. 🙂
