Inspirational Thursday

Happy Thursday loves!

I came across a frame at Dollar Tree and just needed to snap a picture and buy it!

First of all, its a floral design with the first huge cursive word. Second, I saw the word Bloom and took it as a sign as it’s for me!

3rd Annual Au Natural Love Hair Conference

Hello guys!

I’ve lately been getting used to my curly hair and I’m thinking about starting to go natural (hair care). I was again on Eventbrite (woo-h00!) and came across a hair conference in Long Beach. I signed up for their 3rd Annual Au Natural Love Hair Conference.

Located at the Grand Event Center in Long Beach, I approached the room and I was greeted with a friendly face.As I checked in, I received a swag bag full of hair care goodies.

There were giveaways, speakers, talks, light refreshments, some entertainment and even a panel.

In the back of the room, there were a few vendors selling their products.

The Panelists:

Thomas TJ Loftin: He’s a business coach and motivational speaker. He spoke about creating and helping each other’s businesses.

Lisa Puerto: She’s an international speaker and bestselling author. She’s the first to write a book about real estate for the youth! If only they would have thought about that in my childhood.

Courntey Danclar: After working mostly for corporate, Courtney traveled to West Africa and thus created Ankara Nation Inc, which is mostly African clothing.

Tracy Sanders: An attorney and author of “Natural Hair in the Workplace: What Are Your Rights?” I never knew an interviewer could deny you after your interview due to natural hair!

Dr. Bambou Ada Diagne: A Nobel Peace Recipient and CEO of International Ventures and Trade, specifically Imports/Exports. She actually started as a midwife, and she mostly exports and imports products from West Africa.

I learned a lot of things business-wise and more about natural hair! I’ve always heard about co-wash but I never knew what it was, until that day! The same with pre-poo.

The creator of this beautiful event was Kelsie Lyn who is a makeup artist and a natural hair specialist.

What I loved the most about this event was it wasn’t all about hair. It’s about loving yourself as you are naturally.

I look forward to the next Au Natural Love Hair Conference!

Top 5 Beauty Buys

Happy Friday loves!

I wanted to change things up and decided to do my very first Top 5 Beauty Buys. Every new season brings new makeup and beauty products and being the beauty I am, I love it!

1. Degree MotionSense Dry Spray in Fresh Energy

It’s basically a 48 hour antiperspirant dry spray. It goes on instantly dry and I use this every single day. I just love the scent. It’s has a clean, breezy scent with a hint of baby powder.

I actually got this for free as a sample from Target. Now imagine that! A full size new dry deodorant. The only thing that sucks is that a few weeks prior to signing up for the free product, I had purchased the Dove dry spray. -_-

2. Simple Cleansing Micellar Water

It’s perfect for sensitive skin while it cleanses, removes makeup and hydrates the skin. There’s no harsh chemicals, no artificial perfume or dyes. I use this primarily in the morning before I apply my makeup, that way if I’m still in a hurry, I can cleanse my face quickly. I also use this at night occasionally when I’m taking off minimal makeup. This doesn’t work well if you have heavy dark eye makeup, it’ll be harder to wipe away. The perfect thing about this is that: you don’t have to rinse it off at all!

3. Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Mascara

This is actually the only mascara I bought since the beginning of the year. That’s how excited I was about this new mascara. I’ve tried a few Maybelline mascaras but this one just hit the nail! *That’s an upcoming review about that one!*

4. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter “010 Raspberry Pie”

I’m very slowly getting into color on my lips. lol my lips have a natural color to it, so I never really put on lipstick. However, after reading more about colors, I started to branch out. Hence this color! Its such a pretty berry pink with a tiny hint of shimmer.

5. Daily Concepts Facial Micro Scrubber

I got this little gem at the International Salon and Spa Expo in Long Beach back in January. It’s really a smart concept to be honest! One side is a terry cloth material to remove makeup and on the other side, there’s a more rough material to help exfoliate.

Dove Hair: Love Your Curls Video Reaction

Happy Monday loves!

I don’t usually post anything too serious but I feel like this video should be put out there everywhere.

It’s a video about a few girls with curly hair getting interviewed and getting asked about their hair. All of them said they didn’t like it. These girls are about 5-13 years old and have such a hate relationship with their curly hair! One of them said that she wants to have straight hair because its smooth and she thinks it makes her look beautiful. Another one mentioned that she wanted to “just rip it out”.

As I was watching this video, it really made me tear up! Coming from personal experience, I’ve been in those situations and still do until now. Kids in elementary and middle school were always making fun of my curly hair and it did make me think twice about my hair.  It’s sad to hear these young kids not feeling “beautiful” for not having straight hair.

I’m personally not a fan of my curly hair, but I figure out ways to style it differently. (especially if leaving my hair down curly, it gets very frizzy)

Curly hair is beautiful hair, some people have always wanted curly hair. All hair is beautiful. It does help though to have other people in our lives that care about us, no matter what hair type we have.

I know this was a very random post, but I saw it and just had to put my opinion in this. It struck a cord with me.

Only 4 out of 10 curly haired girls think their hair is beautiful! 😦
