3 Simple Secrets to Looking Younger and Having Great Skin as You Age

Happy Wednesday loves!

I’m excited to announce that for the first time ever, I’m having a guest blogger!

No one wants to look old before their time. While we will all age, and there is no escaping it, there are some easy ways you can remain youthful looking. Your skin is the largest organ in your body, and you should look after it.

I am in my early 50s. I became a grandparent at 47 years of age. That’s pretty young, I’m sure you’ll agree. I don’t look my age, and I haven’t for many years. Now, I don’t have a ‘baby-face’ or any other ‘trick’ that keeps me looking young.
I live in a very sunny part of the world. I grew up playing outside before sunscreens were invented. My skin is olive, and I have freckles. And despite these things, people are always surprised to discover how old I am. They are even more surprised when they learn I have grandchildren.
People remark that I am very lucky, and that I must have good ‘genes’ to look so young. Well, I believe that you make your own luck, and regardless of your genetic disposition, you can slow the aging process easily and cheaply.
All those years ago, beauty products weren’t as sophisticated as they are today. I was limited with what I could do. So, here are the 3 things I have been doing for the past 35 years which helps keep my complexion radiant and fighting the aging process.
1. Exfoliate
Scrub your skin long and hard. It sounds harsh, but it works.
Don’t be gentle with your skin, especially your face and around your neck. These two areas will show how old you are sooner than anywhere else. I use a strong brush to exfoliate twice a day. I have one in the shower and one on the bathroom sink. And, I scrub those dead skin cells away until my skin shines.
2. Moisturize
Depending upon where you live, and how much exercise you get I would recommend you moisturize at least twice a day. If you live in a heavily polluted area or you are in the sun a lot, then do it more often.
What kind of moisturizer you use will depend on your budget, but to be honest you don’t need an expensive brand to get great results. I have never paid a lot of money for moisturizer. Instead, I buy ones which are thick and have a good sorbolene base.
Avoid moisturizers which are thin and look glossy. You need to protect your skin for hours at a time, so choose one which is thick and needs rubbing in.
3. Live well
Now, I know I’m going to sound like your mother, but it’s true. Alcohol, smoking and a poor diet play havoc on your skin. And, the older you get the longer it takes for your skin to repair itself, trust me!
I’m not saying you have to be saint, but limit these things as much as you can.
You need to eat a balanced diet and drink a lot of water. If you skin and hair are prone to drying out, eat more fish. I have a small can of tuna each day. It gives my body all the essential omega vitamins to help my skin shine.
It’s never too late to start taking good care of your skin. It shouldn’t cost you a lot of money either. Create a routine where you exfoliate and moisturize when needed. Also, be mindful of what you put in your mouth. Your skin will reveal those bad habits to the world if you let it.
Instead, nurture your skin to help you hide your age, and keep people guessing.

Happy Thursday friends!

Can you believe it’s already Thursday?! This week just flew by!

I was sent the 1.0mm Derma Roller, the Revitalizing Eye Serum and the Professional Hyaluronic Acid Serum from Petunia Skincare and Tomoson.

FYI: This might be one of my longer posts I’ve done, so bare with me please! 🙂

*1.0 Derma Roller:

Benefits:

-Stimulates Collagen Production

-Reduces wrinkles & fine lines

-Cellulite Reduction

-Helps improve appearance of scars

-Reduces Enlarged Pores

-Tightens and smoothes skin

How to Use:

Run under hot water before use. Make sure to clean the affected area. Continuously roll back and forth with steady speed and the appropriate pressure. Roll the roller 10 times in three directions: vertical, horizontal and diagonally. Then apply your skincare products.

My Opinion:

It’s actually called a Derma Roller system that’s made of stainless steel. It uses 540 needles in 1.0mm for the size. When I first saw this, I was intimidated when I heard that it had needles! While it does pinch and you do feel it, it’s not too painful. Only thing I don’t like is that my skin turned kind of red, hence only using it at night. But when I did wake up the next morning, the redness was gone and could feel a difference. It really does help the skin absorb the serums and moisturizers after using it.

*Revatilizing Eye Serum

Main ingredients:

-Sea Kelp and hyaluronic acid, Matrixyl 3000 & Natural Active Peptides

-Vitamin C and Ferulic Acid

My Opinion:

I used this twice a day. Once in the morning before my face serum and once at night after I used the Derma Roller. It helped my under eye area by minimizing the wrinkles and lifting my face. It’s not too heavy and there’s not much of a scent. I prefer having eyes serums with no scent, so that was a plus!

Professional Hyaluronic Acid Serum:

Benefits:

-Holds in moisture that helps plump the skin and diminishes fine lines and wrinkles

-Leaves skin feeling and looking radiant and rejuvenated

My Opinion:

I use this every morning and every night after using a toner. In the morning before my moisturizer that way, the moisturizer seals the serum in. I use this at night after I use the Derma Roller. Just like the eye serum, using a serum after the Derma Roller does help to absorb the serum. I use it on my face, neck and decollete. It’s a clear consistency and it has an algae scent to it. It’s not too strong and its not greasy or oily.

Hi loves,

I hope your having a great weekend. 🙂

I was sent the Valentina Even Glow Serum to test and review and oh my, I really did enjoy it!

It’s an antioxidant treatment to brighten, protect and even skin tone while reducing the appearance of aging. It has 20% of Vitamin C.

Ingredients:

20% Vitamin C: It boosts the immune system while also provides many benefits to keep the skin tight, smooth and looking ageless. It also helps reduce the effects of sun exposure on the skin like sun burns, sun spots, wrinkles and redness.

Organic Rosehip Seed Oil & Organic Sea Buckthorn Oil: They promote skin hydration locks in moisture to protect your skin from signs of aging and improve its beauty and youthfulness.

It penetrates deeply, and actives collagen production for a fresher, younger, firmer, and brighter complexion. This is one of the most effective moisturizing ingredient in the market today.

Green Tea Extract:  It is a potent antioxidant which also contributes to the overall anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant benefits of this ancient health and beauty secrets.

The Benefits:

*Evens Skin Tone

*Increases Glow and Radiance

*Absorbs Quickly

*Boosts Collagen Production

*Reduces Wrinkles and Fine Lines

 My Review:

I’m not going to lie, but when I first received it, I was a feeling a little sketchy about it. The only reason I felt sketchy at first was because I received another Vitamin C serum that purely felt like just water with a hint of a scent. Lets not ramble on the bad product haha. Back to the original review.

The Texture: it’s smooth and perfect in the sense of feeling like a serum. It dries pretty quickly and has no feeling of an oily or greasy texture. I wore moisturizer after applying the serum but didn’t feel heavy at all.

How I used it: I shook the bottle lightly for 1-2 seconds just so the natural ingredients weren’t separated. I applied 1 drop to my forehead, two drops on both cheeks and one last drop on my chin and decollete. I then waited until it dried and then applied my moisturizer.

The Scent: I love the scent! In my opinion, it smells like orange or something citrus-y (if that’s even a word!)

After using it for a month or so, I have seen such a difference on my face. It seems more supple, soft, smooth and it really does help even out the skin tone.
